TV's Greatest Hits stands in homage to the many, many talented individuals who have dedicated their lives (or at least their careers) to entertaining us. Here, you will find multiple links from each show or film represented here that will allow you to learn everything you need to know from who starred, produced or directed to where you can get the DVDs or soundtrack CDs.
TV's Greatest Hits stands in defiance of...
- Obliterated, obscured and otherwise unreadable closing credits
- Suppressed or omitted closing theme.
- The watermark or "bug" which is now a constant irritant.
- The rate at which commercials are consuming air time. While we recgnize the need for sponsorship, it's important to note that today, you can expect that about 30% of every hour is dedicated to advertising. Once upon a time, that percentage was about 14%.
- As if all that weren't enough, how about the commericals DURING the show... usually for an upcoming program?!? They now typically fill about 33% of the screen and obscure the action WHILE THE SHOW IS AIRING!!!
Television is an experience. It creates memories and can take you places you might not otherwise go. Through television, we've not only been to the moon (July, 1969 - Neil Armstrong walks on the moon), but we've been as far out as other worlds (Star Trek, Babylon 5), or as far in as under the sea (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, SeaQuest, The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau) or even within our own bodies (Fantastic Voyage, Innerspace, or the Discovery Channel).

TV's Greatest Hits, too, is an experience. Here, presentation is the difference. TV's Greatest Hits is a free website. Although the midi artists featured here do not charge for their work, they've put a considerable amount of time and effort into re-creating these themes. Often, a midi file which plays just over a minute can take weeks to create and get it to sound just right.
These are labors of love.
I encourage you, the visitor, to take an extra few seconds to read the names of the people who have brought so much enjoyment into our lives. You might even learn that you prefer the work of one composer over another. Names like Mark Snow, Mike Post, Henry Mancini, W.G. "Snuffy" Walden, Bob Conti and many, many others will begin to have meaning for you. Other more well known names will surprise you with their early compositions... Names like John Williams, Danny Elfman and John Debney.
With the introduction of full episodes to TV's Greatest Hits, you can now hear the theme and see the opening credits as they originally aired! Moreover, the closing theme and credits can now be heard and seen in their entirety!
Finally, if you think you already have most of the themes contained here, I urge you to check again! There are revision dates included with most sequences in this web site. Many themes have been re-sequenced, and only the best, most true-to-the-original themes are here! Some of the themes (or versions of themes) here do not appear anywhere else on the Internet.
Finally, as time permits, some midi files here have become eligible for a makeover. Be sure to check back not only to see what's new, but also to hear what's fresh!
